The gorgeous food in Changhua

Changhua is a small countryside in Taiwan actually. Most people lived in Changhua work in the agricultural industry. This may be one of the reasons why the food in Changhua is fresh and tasty.


1.  Meatballs, Ba-wan

The meatball I am talking about is not only a ball of ground meat, but it also has a starch wrapped in the outer layer of ba-wan. It tastes more interesting with this starch layer.💓



In Changhua, we have two different kinds of ba-wan. One is cooked by steaming, the other is fried. These two methods make ba-wan have a different texture. The steam ba-wan tastes softy and smoothes for the outer starch layer, and the fried one tastes chewy and crunchy. The sauce on ba-wan is salty and sweet. You can’t eat ba-wan without sauce. By the way, the meat in ba-wan is pork, so notice this ingredient before you order these dishes!😋

2.  Soy-stewed pork with rice

 

This is also a kind of traditional food in Taiwan, the same as braised pork rice. It’s also made from pork. The features of these dishes are using the fatty part of pork to cook, but you can choose a more lean part with your soy-stewed pork if you don’t like the fatty one.😻

3.  Mochi

 

Mochi is a kind of traditional dessert. The most common flavor is sesame, peanut, and red bean. The outer layer of mochi is chewy and thin, and the aroma of stuffing is fulfilled in your mouth when you’re eating. It can be recommended to the sweet-tooth people. Besides, the shop I introduce to you is located in Changhua city. You can buy only one mocha to try first. If you think it’s really delicious, you can buy a box of mochi for your friends and family members then.

4. Twisted roll

 

The twisted roll in Changhua is quite different from the Xiao Liuqiu. It looks bigger and has the syrup coating outside the cookie. This may make cookies sticky and soft, comparing to Xiao Liuqiu twisted roll. The common flavor is sesame, peanut, and spring onion, and spring onion is my suggestion. All of them are my favorite snack in my childhood memories, but this snack is not easy to eat for the elders.

Taiwan is a historical country. We have a unique culture from indigenous people, colonizers, and modern Chinese. We are living in a high culturally diverse society, and it also influences our daily life from literature to diet.💗 Before the 16th century , Taiwan had only indigenous people , lived in a different area of Taiwan.
